July 1947 - Front Cover, showing how the special "Dichroic"
mirrors worked their magic, on the receiver end, and made this early color
television system possible. Look closely, and notice how the specific
color picture information from each CRT (red, blue and green) is reflected off
each dichroic mirror, but is still transparent enough to allow the viewer to see
the summation of all three colors (giving a perfect color image). This is
one of the best illustrations I have seen for this concept.
[Editor's Note: Wayne Bretl wrote to make a
correction to the illustration above: "You should add a note that although the
mechanical arrangement is very clear, the illustrator made a mistake in making
the "missing" areas of each CRT image white instead of black."]
