1935-1939 British TV Set Advertising

Note: When you see British prices quoted in Gns, that means "Guineas".  In the 1930s a Guinea was worth about $5.25 in US dollars.  That same $5.25 of 1930s money is equivalent to a range of $60-$80 of today's buying power.

This was a glossy 8" x 13" leaflet that was handed out to potential Scophony customers in August of 1937.  It basically says that Scophony has 405-line receiving apparatus ready for sale, but they found "considerable amount of irregular timing and phase shifting in the synchronising signal radiated from Alexandra Palace, which made such signals unsuitable for receivers using a scanning system possessing inertia".

They go on to say that the BBC has promised to remedy the defect by installing new pulse generating equipment, which should be working by the end of August, 1937.
